North America

In November 2006, Bioverda US Holdings LLC opened its North American offices in Chicago with the strategic objective of becoming a major developer and owner of biofuel and bioenergy projects in North America.

In December 2006, Bioverda formed a strategic joint venture, (VBV LLC) with Virgin Fuels to invest and develop biofuel plants in the US. Virgin Bioverda (VBV) is currently developing two greenfield 100 million gallon a year (MGY) ethanol plants in the US:

• Ethanol Grain Processors LLC (EGP), Obion, Tennessee
• Indiana Bioenergy LLC (IBE), Blufton, Indiana

Construction of both plants commenced in December 2006 and they are expected to come online in August 2008. The combined project investment for both facilities is in excess of $330m.

In the coming months Bioverda expects to make several announcements relating to the development of additional greenfield ethanol production facilities as well the acquisition of a number of existing production plants.

Bioverda is also actively seeking to develop bioenergy facilities to generate clean, renewable energy from a number of sources (such as methane and landfill gas, waste wood, agricultural waste, and industrial waste products) using processes such as anaerobic digestion, gasification and co-generation. Bioverda is not linked to any one technology vendor and can choose the most appropriate technology for the location and fuel. The geographic spread of projects ranges from New England to California.
